Pilates in Koh Samui: what a reformer class here is actually like

If you are searching for pilates in Koh Samui, you are probably one of two people: you live here and want somewhere serious to train, or you are here for a fortnight and do not want to lose the habit. Isla is built for both, and this is what it is like before you walk through the door.

Ten wooden reformers, small classes

The studio is in Bophut, a few minutes from Fisherman’s Village. The room holds ten reformers — wooden, not the aluminium ones you may know from a gym — so a full class is ten people and the teacher can see every one of them. Places are not numbered; you book a place and choose your reformer when you arrive.

Classes are taught in English. Most are open to all levels and the teacher adjusts for the room: a first-timer and someone on their hundredth class regularly share a session and both leave having worked. If you have never been on a reformer, the beginner classes exist for exactly that and they run most weeks.

What it costs

• A single class is ฿900.
• If it is your first time at Isla, the intro offer is ฿1,800 for three classes — two paid, one free — and it is the way almost everybody starts.
• Coming more than twice a week? The packs bring the price per class down; the packs and prices lists them all.

Grip socks are required on the reformers. Bring your own or pick up a pair at the studio.

How to book

Everything is on the timetable: pick a class, pay by card or PromptPay, and your place is held. Classes fill — mornings first — so booking the day before is the honest advice. Cancellations free the place for the waitlist.
