A solo pilates retreat: why most of our guests come alone
21 October 2026 · 2 min read · Isla Pilates Samui

Most people who book the Isla retreat come by themselves. Not in a group, not with a partner — one person, one room, one class a day. If you are weighing whether a solo pilates retreat is a good idea, that fact should settle most of it.
Why it works alone
A class is company without obligation. You are in a room with nine other people for fifty minutes, working; afterwards you can talk or not. The daily ride to the studio means you are never arranging anything, and the rest of the day is yours — the beach at Bophut, a scooter round the island, or nothing.
Rooms that suit one
- The studio apartment — a whole place to yourself with a kitchen, from ฿3,150 a night, a twelve-minute walk from the studio. Most solo guests choose this.
- The seaview villa studio on our estate, if the point is quiet.
- A beachfront suite, if the point is the sea.
Safety, plainly
Bophut is a low-key part of a well-travelled island. The ride to and from class is arranged by us; the airport transfers are met, not found. Samui has scooters everywhere and you do not have to ride one.
Dates and rooms are on the Isla retreat. If you want to meet the studio before committing to a week, any single class on the timetable is open to visitors.
Do it somewhere warm, for as long as you like
the Isla retreat is a reformer class every day on Koh Samui, on the dates you choose — from three nights, with your ride to the studio and back included and a room you pick. Nothing is charged until a person has confirmed your room. If you would rather start with one class, the timetable is the place.
