A one week pilates retreat in Koh Samui: how the seven days actually go

2 November 2026 · 2 min read · Isla Pilates Samui

The living space of a retreat villa on Koh Samui

Seven nights is the length most people land on when they book the retreat, and it is the length where the classes stop being separate hours and become one course. Here is the honest shape of it — not a brochure itinerary, because there is none, but what a week tends to look like.

Day one: arrival

You are met at the airport and driven to your room. If you land early enough there is a class that day; if not, the first one is the next morning. Either way, tell us anything that hurts before you arrive.

Days two to four: learning the machine

The first three classes are where the reformer stops being a puzzle. The teacher sets your springs, you learn what the footbar and straps do, and by the third morning you are no longer thinking about the equipment. Afternoons are yours: the beach at Bophut, the café, the pool. Most people book a massage on day two or three, when the first stiffness arrives.

Days five to seven: the work

This is the part a pack of weekly classes at home never reaches. With the mechanics learned, the classes get precise. Corrections stick because there is no gap for old habits to creep back. If you are going to add a private session, this is the place for it — one hour on your own weak spot, mid-week, changes the last three classes.

What changes by day seven

Not the number on the scale. What changes is how you stand, how you get out of a chair, where your shoulders sit. People describe it as feeling organised. The last morning is usually the best class of the week, which is exactly when a fixed-date retreat would have you checking out.

Booking a week

A week is seven nights on the Isla retreat with any room; choose your arrival date and the classes fall into place around it. Half is paid once your room is confirmed, the rest thirty days before you fly. Longer is fine — the retreat runs to thirty nights — and shorter works from three.

Do it somewhere warm, for as long as you like

the Isla retreat is a reformer class every day on Koh Samui, on the dates you choose — from three nights, with your ride to the studio and back included and a room you pick. Nothing is charged until a person has confirmed your room. If you would rather start with one class, the timetable is the place.
